The EIA reported a build of +7,698 MBbls in U.S. crude-oil inventories. In contrast, the market expected a draw of -1,979 MBbls as reported by Bloomberg.
Inventories for the U.S. are now at a deficit of 7.30 MMBbls (-1.7%) to last year, and a deficit of 26.90 MMBbls (-5.9%) to the five-year average.
